Not getting stressed out over life

As middle school and high school students there are times when we get so stressed out.  Do you ever find yourself with a bunch of projects do soon, your family is having some problems, just broke up with your boyfriend/girlfriend, or stressed b/c you feel that you are not as close to God as you used to be?  Well, we have looked up some scriptures to know what we need to do when we are stressed out.  Maybe you can use them too.  If there are some that we did not think of email us and tell us what you think.

This is what normally do when we are stressed:

·       Joke about it

·       Pray

·       Eat

·       Take a break

·       Talk to someone

·       Take a shower

1. Talk to someone.  Proverbs 11:14 "For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure." We see that you need to have many advisors to make victory sure.  If we talk with our friends, teachers, or even our parents we can get through the most stressful times in our lives.  We WILL have victory over stress.

2. When Jesus was stressed He quoted scripture (Luke 4:8). He was stressed because He was tempted by the Devil (Luke 4: 1-13). The Devil was saying that he didn't believe in the Lord, which is disrespectful. This came at a time when Jesus hadn't eaten for 40 days. Most people would be dead by then.

3. Jesus was stressed another time when He was being denied by Simon Peter, one of his closest friends while He was on the earth (Luke 22: 54-62). Peter said that he didn't know Him. Jesus just looked straight at Peter and reminded him of his promise that he had made and had broken. One way to react to stress is with truth. Tell the truth even when the world around you isn't. This may help them to get back in line--when those weaker than you can see that you aren't faltering.

4. Stephen (Acts 7: 2-56) was stressed. Wouldn't anybody be if they were about to be stoned? What did Stephen do?

5. Job (Job 1:20) was stressed.

Job 1:13 And it fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house,
Job 1:14 that there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them;
Job 1:15 and the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away: yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
Job 1:16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
Job 1:17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have taken them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
Job 1:18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house;
Job 1:19 and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
Job 1:20 Then Job arose, and rent his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped;
Job 1:21 and he said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah hath taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah.
Job 1:22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

What did Job do? He kept faithful to his service to God no matter what.

Many times what matters is not that a tragedy happens, but what we do next about it.

Other ideas:

Do one thing at a time

Joke about it

Pray

Take a break (run away from what is stressing you out)

Eat

Take a shower
