Work is under way with the Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes program at the Dover Church of Christ. The "Faithful Four" (as called by Brother Womack) of Chris Moss, Brent Hottinger, Marion Helton, and Donnie Forehand are leading the charge. This is only our second year and there is still much to learn. Much was learned last year about managing the logistics of an event of this nature. Considerable effort was spent this year in working on a schedule for Dover Church of Christ members for the Nashville Convention. A lot of thoughtful planning resulted in a lot of thoughtful re-writes. The Faithful Four will get back to us with the revised schedule in due time. |

This will be our second trip to Convention at Nashville. Last year might be described as a "reconnaisance in force." We recognized that many congregations go for the first time to only watch and not try to place in any of the events. And we recognize that we are the "new kids on the block." But we are prepared in several events. Last year we sent about 30 people. This year will be closer to 40, between young people and adults.

Our young people are now involved in several events: Good Samaritan, Centurion of the Scripture, Scripture Reading, Art Says It, Scrapbook, Bible Bowl, two instances of Mass Media web page, Parade of Winners (Bible reading), two puppet events, and boys' Song Leading/girls' Songs of Praise. We have searched for, and are still in some cases, searching for adult leadership in some of those areas. One of the neat things about LTL is that it not only involves the young people of a congregation, but older ones as well. Lads to Leaderettes/Leaderettes has a way of dissolving generational barriers and bringing Christians of all ages in the congregation together. |

From time to time our young men lead in our worship services. They help with scripture readings, prayers, and song leading. |

We covet your prayers and best wishes as we try to teach this generation the things that are most important. We find haunting the words of Judges 2:10 "And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, that knew not Jehovah, nor yet the work which he had wrought for Israel. And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and served the Baalim; 2:12 and they forsook Jehovah, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples that were round about them, and bowed themselves down unto them: and they provoked Jehovah to anger." |
