Is there a Heaven and a Hell?
The American Standard Version Bible uses the word "Heaven" 534 times. It uses the word "Hell" directly 13 times but the place of fire and brimstone is referred to many more times such as in Matthew 25: 30 "outer darkness."
I. Who was Heaven made for? See Matthew 25: 31-46 especially 34.
II. What kind of people are going to Heaven?
More than just "good people" and "morally pure." See Jesus' visit with Nicodemus in John 3: 1-7.
Those who DO what God told them to. John 14: 15; again, Matthew 7:
21-23. James 2: 24.
Those who hear (Romans 10: 17), believe (Mark 16: 16), repent of their sins (Acts 2: 38), confess Jesus as Lord (Matthew 10: 32, 33; Acts 8: 37), and are baptized (Acts 2: 38; Acts 22: 16; Galatians 3: 27). NO ONE WAS EVER TOLD HE WAS GOING TO HEAVEN JUST BECAUSE HE HEARD AND BELIEVED, period.
God wants everyone to go to Heaven. II Peter 3: 9--" The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. "
III. Will Heaven be crowded? Will there be too many people there?
Matthew 7: 13, 14
Revelation 2: 10--"Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life."
IV. What do people do in Heaven? Do they have memories of earth?
Luke 16: 19-31. Notice what Lazarus is doing. For the group that is writing on What is Hell like, notice what the rich man is doing.
Read Revelation chapters 21 and 22 to hear of the grandeur, the peace, and the relief from all temptation and all harm that awaits us there.
What do you think Heaven will be like?
Is there anything on Earth that would be so important that you would want to
miss Heaven?
