Dear Dover Church of Christ Youth Group,
Hey! My name is Josh Barber, and I am a member of the Downtown church of Christ in Morrilton, Arkansas. I actually live in Russellville, but I worship with the Downtown congregation (yeah, it does take a lot of gas money, but it's worth it! The youth group is great!). I stumbled across the Dover church of Christ webpage while I was looking for a congregation on Arkansas Churches of Christ web page. I knew a few people from Dover, so I thought I might check it out.
But the reason I'm really writing you is to ask you if you received an invitation to Youth Outreach University which will be held in Conway January 13-15. I guess you might call it a "youth rally," since it technically is for high school kids, and we have keynote speakers, singing, etc. But really it's a workshop featuring several classes that will help prepare us to talk to our friends about our faith. I know last year, when Y.O.U. was held in the church building of the Downtown congregation, it was very encouraging, uplifting, and helpful!
If you're thinking, "Well, it's probably too late to sign up," try anyways! Not even a week ago (December 29), David Riley, the preacher at the Mars Hill church of Christ in Vilonia, announced that it isn't too late to sign up for Y.O.U., and it isn't even too late for a whole youth group to sign up. In fact, he encouraged us to go talk to our friends from other congregations to make sure their youth group is planning to attend.
