Wednesday Night Study Sheet--Joshua 15
Main idea: Division of the holy lands among the twelve tribes of Israel.

Summary: Some discussion of the lands is on the web pages for Joshua 13, 14, and 16. Here we note Israel's neighbors and enemies. Syria is to the north. Syria was a permissive neighbor who allowed Assyria and Babylon (in years to come) to pour down through their country unchallenged and to invade Israel. To the northeast was Aram, not a Godly people but not chief among Israel's enemies. East was Ammon and they were a barbaric tribe. Southeast was Moab, who passed their infants through their fires erected to Baal and other pagan gods. To Israel's south was Edom, a red-haired, high-tempered, war-like people. These surroundings made Israel have to stay on their toes all the time.
